Often it was necessary to make small collages of autumn leaves together with schoolchildren, as well as other plants and their fruits, these are cones, acorns, seeds.
For a collage, you need to collect leaves with bright colors, different shapes and sizes. It's good if you or your children have ideas that you want to see in the end result. Draw by hand where and what will be located on the sheet. It is better to take a thick sheet, it can be cardboard.
If leaves, grass, plants completely cover the leaf, then the background need not be painted. If the collage contains a certain plot, for example, a lake, a boat, a forest, mountains, trees, then paint over the water surface with blue paint.
Leaves, flowers, grass first dry under the press, you can put between sheets of paper, but it's a long wait. Although others are microwaved, this must be done carefully so that the paper does not catch fire. Leaves need to be placed between two sheets of paper.
The easiest way to glue natural material is with PVA glue, just apply it carefully so that there are no run-offs.
When the collage is ready, the glue is dry, we place it in a beautiful frame, you can also do it yourself or paste it over with natural material.
It's easy to make such a collage with your own hands, it is advisable to cover the leaves with colorless varnish.
The most important thing in this business is to dry the plants. It is possible in old books. The leaves are dried until they are dry. This usually happens in 2-3 days, but thin flowers are covered with napkins and transferred to a dry book every day. The next day they do the same. The napkin with flowers is not opened until the flowers are dry. A load is placed on top, the more the better.
If the flowers are delicate, you may need to do this procedure for 10 days. This will keep the natural vibrant color. It is easier, of course, to use a purchased herbarium press.
Next, take cardboard, paste a Whatman paper or plain watercolor paper on both sides, then your collage will not warp over time. Glue the plants with Pva glue. You can whole, you can cut and lay out the drawing. I invite you to see my work, they are here. Never varnish anything, ruin your work! Just slide into the glass frame.
